We have a critical need for people willing to serve as election judges, alternate judges, and election clerks for the May 29 Primary election. Training is available, and the positions are (modestly) paid. We are especially interested in identifying Spanish speaking Republicans willing to participate in helping ensure the integrity of elections in Williamson County by working in the polls. If you are interested, please send an email to elections@williamsoncountygop.org with your name, address, additional languages spoken, and any experience you have had working elections. Please also let us know if you are interested in working during early voting for the primary.

Please note: Those sixteen years old and older are eligible to serve as clerks. Become part of the process and volunteer today!

As the 2012 Republican Party of Texas State Convention gets closer, we are receiving a number of requests for information on carpooling, sharing a room, and such. This is where people can post their requests, and hopefully find what they need to make their convention experience complete. We ask that posts be limited to requests for tickets, carpooling, hotel rooms, offers to share these things, or other logistical questions about the 2012 RPT Convention.

State Convention plans progressing

On Saturday, April 14, activists from across Williamson County convened in Taylor for the 2012 Republican County Convention. Over 40 resolutions were debated, and our delegation to the 2012 Republican Party of Texas Convention in Fort Worth was selected. We would like to congratulate everyone chosen to be a part of our convention delegation.

The state convention website address is http://convention.texasgop.org - and will feature a link for the online registration process, hotel information, a tentative list of events and activities, and an FAQ site to answer questions about the convention process for first-time attendees.

Our SREC Committeemembers Hal Talton and Jean Killgore have announced SD 5 Temporary Committee Appointments:

Orders now being taken for Williamson County GOP Red Polo Shirts. Cost is only $20. Please contact Doug Whitlow for more information, or to place your order. Orders must be received by May 15th, and will be delivered in time for the state convention!

We have received several requests for help in finding rooms, roommates, carpools, and such for the state convention. While we do not have time to manage these requests, we have created an open thread (comment area) where delegates can request someone to share a room, carpool with, and such. In the coming weeks we will be adding additional information to our local webpage of special interest to Williamson County attendees, including housing information, and special events open to attendees from Williamson County.

May Voting Schedule

There are two very important elections being held in May, and many voters will need to vote twice in order to have their voice heard on all of the candidates and issues being discussed. Early voting is now underway for various city, school, and MUD elections. These include Cedar Park Mayor, Leander Mayor, Austin City Council, Georgetown ISD, Hutto ISD, and many others. Others, like GOP Chairman Bill Fairbrother who lives in the City of Round Rock and the Round Rock ISD, do not have anything to vote on in the May 12 election. Early voting in the May 12 City/School/MUD elections continues through May 8. To find out if there are any races/issues you can vote on in the May 12 election, please click here.

Everyone will be able to vote in the May 29 Republican Primary, and early voting in the 2012 Republican Primary will be from May 14 through May 25. Please click here for more information on voting in the May 29 Republican Primary.

Precinct Chair – Apparently there is some confusion regarding the election of precinct chairs. The filing deadline for precinct chairman is June 1st, and any contested precinct chair races will appear on the July 31st Runoff Election ballot.
