The Williamson County Republican Party County Convention will be held on Saturday, March 20th, at Taylor High School (3101 North Main – map). Registration begins at 8:00am, and the convention will be called to order at 9:00am. At this convention, we will hear from speakers, elect delegates to the state convention (Dallas – June 11/12), and adopt resolutions to forward to the state convention for consideration of inclusion in the 2010 Republican Party of Texas Platform.
Those who were elected delegates/alternate delegates at your precinct convention will be able to vote, and will be sent additional information in the mail this week. If you were not elected from your precinct conventon, you may still attend the convention as a visitor.
Those who have purchased a meal will obtain a color-coded ticket in the lobby near the registration lines to expedite serving during lunch. All meals are pre-boxed for quick delivery. Checks payable to WCRP for lunch can be dropped off at party headquarters in Georgetown, or submitted when you pick up your tickets.
Applications being accepted for State Convention - Temporary Nominations Committee Chairman Hal Talton and the nominations committee are already hard at work on the list of delegates and alternate delegates to recommend for the 2010 Republican Party of Texas Convention in Dallas. In order to track who is interested and able to attend, we are asking everyone interested in serving as a delegate or alternate delegate to submit an application. Applications can be downloaded at http://www.williamsoncountygop.org/delapp.pdf. Completed applications can be given to Chairman Bill Fairbrother, emailed to nominations@williamsoncountygop.org , or placed in the mail slot a t the Georgetown Republican Party Headquarters (716 S. Rock Street – before 5pm on Friday, March 19).
Those waiting until the convention at Saturday to apply to be a delegate or alternate delegate can still be considered, but the time available for review is very limited, so please get your application in as soon as possible.
Resolutions Committee Information – Temporary Resolutions Committee Chairman Steve Armbruster and the resolutions committee have been busy working on the 2010 Resolutions Committee Report, and have released the temporary committee report for review. Using the 2008 Republican Party of Texas Platform as a basis, the report proposes several changes/additions. PLEASE NOTE:We cannot afford to produce a copy of the 2008 report for every delegate/alternate. Attendees are encouraged to make a copy for themselves from the link below.

Volunteer Opportunities at County Convention – The success of this year’s convention depends on the active participation of many people. There are many volunteer opportunities for the county convention. Please contact us at 863-8481 or info@williamsoncountygop.org to volunteer.
Page Opportunities at County Convention – Young men and women are needed to help serve as pages for the county convention. Students mature enough to take direction and assist others with minimal direct supervision in the conduct of the convention are welcomed to apply, with their parent’s permission. Please send an email to info@williamsoncountygop.org with the name(s), age(s), phone/email addresses, and parent’s contact information for anyone interested in serving at the county convention.
Help the Hope Pregnancy Center at the County Convention - At the County Convention, we will be collecting items to benefit the Hope Pregnancy Center. The HOPE Pregnancy Center is especially in need of Body Wash, Lotions, Wipes, Bottle brushes, Sippy Cups, Brush & Comb sets, Thermometers, Nail Clippers, Scissors, Diaper Bags, and Baby’s Keepsake Books. Cash donations (checks payable to Hope Pregnancy Center) are also accepted and appreciated. Items to benefit the Hope Pregnancy Center and other local centers can also be dropped off at party headquarters.
